Windows 8 Applications

Can Windows 8 (i.e. Windows Store/Metro) applications be submitted? Since there is no official way to distribute these outside of the Windows Store except to someone with a developer's license, I'm thinking that this is a no-go.

    Hi burroak,

    Thanks for writing. Yes, Windows Phone and Windows desktop applications will be accepted into the competition. We actually have a Windows developer account, so that shouldn't be a problem.

    If you plan to submit a Windows Phone application, you can share access by uploading an .xap file to the submission form or providing a link to download your app in the “Testing Instructions” field on the submission form.

    If you plan to submit a Windows desktop application, you can share access by uploading an .exe to the submission form or by providing a link to download the file (again, you should include this in the "Testing Instructions" field on the submission form).

    For both options, please be sure to include detailed information about any installation requirements.
